Guest Wi-Fi & HSIA — your questions
Can guests log in with their room number?
Yes. The captive portal can authenticate against your property management system so guests log in with a room number and last name, and access ends automatically at checkout. Paid tiers, conference codes and voucher access are all supported.
How do you stop one guest from slowing everyone down?
Per-user and per-plan bandwidth management. Each guest gets a fair slice, and no single device — a laptop backing up to the cloud, say — can starve the rest of the floor. Plans are configurable, so a premium tier can be faster.
Do you handle the cabling and switches too, or just the Wi-Fi?
We handle the whole stack: structured cabling, PoE switching, access points and the HSIA platform on top. Single-vendor accountability means one team owns coverage end to end — no finger-pointing between the cabling contractor and the Wi-Fi vendor.
Can we run guest Wi-Fi as a paid amenity?
Yes. Surfsonix supports paid tiers, plan-based access and event codes, so you can offer free basic access and charge for premium speed, or bill conference groups separately.
Is guest traffic kept separate from our business network?
Always. Guest traffic is isolated on its own VLAN with client isolation on, so guests can’t see each other or reach your back-office systems. This is also part of staying PCI-aware if you take card payments on the same premises.
